Tactical Missile Defense Battle Management Systems Israeli Test Bed (ITB)
An integral part of Tactical Ballistic Missile Defense Systems, The ITB is a real-time simulator that recreates numerous battle scenarios, enabling commanders to control, through realistic simulation, vital defense activities. It is used by Israeli and US defense forces.
Citron Tree is the Battle Management Center (BMC) developed for the Arrow Defense Weapon System. It is currently deployed at the Arrow launch site.
 
ITB Description
The ITB was developed and is continuously being operated since 1992 by Tadiran Electronic Systems Ltd. at a special site in Holon. The site covers over 400 sq. m with several operational sectors. The heart of the ITB is the Battle Management Center, where the simulated TMD battle is monitored and fought. From this vantage, the simulated TMD battle
may also be observed with no human interaction in the course of defensive events.
Israeli weapons and sensors, such as the Arrow interceptor, the Green Pine radar and the Boost Phase Intercept systems (BPI) are embedded in the simulation alongside other weapon systems such as the Patriot PAC 2, reconnaissance satellites and a Generic Sea Based Radar (GSBR).
Other weapons and systems can be easily added, by means of flexible sensors and interceptors models. The Rules of Engagement (ROEs) and defense optimization criteria for each BMC may also be defined in a flexible manner. Intelligence information, both off-line and on-line, can be introduced into the ITB. In setting up an exercise the ITB personnel select attack
scenarios, sensors and weapon systems from a configuration managed testbed library, orient them on the map and define the battle rules.
Supporting the simulation is a substantial infrastructure of system control functions and a high fidelity communications simulation.
Statistics on defense performance may also be displayed and examined by controllers or exercise management personnel.
